The tickets will allow you to move a worker, this gives you a bit more flexibility and will allow you to get more done in the early game. I see it as the opposite: the extra opportunities each player gets means you need to be as efficient as possible with your plays, or else other players will take these new mechanics and score big off of them! In the knoll worker placement space you discard 3 cards from the meadow or station, refill and then draw 3 cards from either the meadow or station into your hand. It opens up a lot more possibilities for your city’s engine and keeps the game from becoming stagnant with repeating cards or a Meadow that won’t cycle fast enough.

The new meeples are well shaped and are easily recognisable to what animal they represent (Figure 7).The average playtime of the base game is increased slightly when playing with all the modules but if just playing with the station board it remains relatively similar to the base game. The back of the box shows all the modules of the expansion along with describing what they add (Figure 2). These modules can also be used with the Rugwort solo mode with the bot receiving points when you use these new items as compensation. This expansion brings the station which gives you new focus to gain big points other than the basic and special events, as well as three more station places which behave like the meadow so you will have more choice as the game goes on. This offers you much more flexibility throughout the game and tackles the issue of a stagnant meadow at the lower player counts.

The Station space that allows you to discard Meadow/Station cards, refresh, and draw is a great way to cycle through the cards that are available and get a resource from the train car that you really need. Everdell: Newleaf is one of the two expansions released for Everdell in 2022, bringing the total number of Everdell expansions to five! As with every Everdell expansion, every mechanic is modular, so you can take what you want and leave out the rest. One thing that did throw us off was the rules section explaining how to use Newleaf Critters/Constructions with golden occupation tokens.Your workers are woodland animals (initially in the base game until non woodland critters such as axolotls started to appear).

In the game, players take the role of forest animals building a city over four seasons by collecting resources, recruiting workers, and constructing buildings. Previously, they were very limiting and hard to get because a lot of them had very specific requirements, like having the Historian and Clock Tower or the Barge Toad and the Miner Mole. The tickets are both good early and late game with you able to get more resources at the start to get your engine going. That’s a lot of dilution, but the golden occupation tokens and new effects that help cycle the deck faster keep everything balanced.You can then play this card for one less resource in a future turn exhausting the token which flips back over when you pass to the next season. The Reservation Tokens allowing you to reserve a Meadow or Station card for yourself is similar to mechanics in other games, so it’s nothing revolutionary, but it can change the dynamic of the game significantly.
