About this deal

Use the monitor mix slider to adjust how much of each source you can hear. For best results, start monitoring at the midpoint and adjust.

The MOTIV Desktop Application offers control over microphone settings and includes the following additional features: Select Auto Level Mode to allow the software to control audio settings. Near for up-close applications (1-6 in. / 2.54-15 cm) and Far for a distance of 6-18 inches. (15-45 cm) Ideal when the sound source is further from the microphone, like in gaming when the person needs to be closer to the screen or gaming console. Aim the microphone directly at the sound source. Place the microphone 6 to 18 inches (15 to 45 cm) away from the sound source. Make additional gain adjustments if necessary.

Needed it for sampling, synth input, and work (Zoom/Teams). Plugs into synth and laptop and can be used for both without needing to mess with cables. Solid quality equipment. Just like the SM7B, it features an integrated yoke stand that can be flipped 180 degrees for mounting on a traditional mic stand or hung from a boom arm. The SM7B has gained legendary status among producers, recording engineers and podcasters alike. Many will accept nothing else, but should they (and streamers) consider the new MV7 microphone instead? No love for the MV7 then? Not at all, but we believe Shure's spot on when it describes it as a ' podcast microphone, inspired by the legendary SM7B'. The MV7 is small, light, comparatively inexpensive and has a tonal fingerprint that's been developed specifically to bring clarity to the spoken voice. At a push it can be used to record sung vocals or guitar cabs and other loud instruments but, frankly, the SM7B is a better choice for these applications. So why would someone opt instead for a shiny, new MV7? Well, there are plenty of reasons, actually, and we’ll try to make that as clear as possible right here. But we’d stress that these microphones really complement rather than compete against each other. For example, someone might use an MV7 for streaming from home and a trusty SM7B for studio recording. Or maybe your podcasting rig is already running an SM7B and you’ll want the MV7 for remote guests and recording on the road.

Now, Shure has released the brand new MV7 microphone designed especially for podcasters, streamers and vocalists looking for convenient USB and XLR connectivity without compromising their audio. Clearly inspired by the SM7B, the MV7 has a whole set of cool features for content creators and musicians. Using your finger to hold the screw assembly in place, slide the MV7 onto the threaded screw and turn the knob to keep washers in place. Shure’s legendary recording mic and USB-equipped newcomer go head-to-head. Which will come out on top for recording podcasts, instruments and more? Mic Mute / Mic Gain Use the toggle to mute and unmute your microphone. Use the slider to control microphone gain.If you’re working from a desktop, a compact mounted boom arm is easier to manage. You can even get a proprietary desktop mic stand directly from Shure.

LED bar Displays microphone and headphone level. The LED color indicates which level is being displayed or adjusted. This version of ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop is compatible with the following recommended firmware versions: Another great feature is the MV7’s Auto Level Mode, which allows users connecting via USB to have the microphone adjust the level of your voice on the fly to ensure a consistent output of your recording or stream. This will save valuable editing time in post-production and keep the volume consistent throughout – it’s like having a virtual engineer by your side! I highlighted this above but for the price, and the market that Shure is aiming the MV7 at, it’s disappointing that there’s no desk stand included. The Blue Yeti X comes with a good quality stand and although the audio quality isn’t on the same level, it’s also much cheaper. The absolute beauty of the MV7 is just how easy it is to use. Out of the box, you just plug it in, fire up the MOTIV app, and make a few adjustments to your recording levels. The app is very straightforward to use, and allows you to adjust a number of settings to produce the cleanest recording. There's even a Near/Far option that automatically boosts recording levels if you’re positioning the mic away from you.

Whenever you use the MV7, your voice will remain front and centre at all times. Shure know just how important a clear and intelligible vocal is (they are one of the biggest names in the microphone world for a reason), so a highly directional dynamic design and voice isolation tech have both been incorporated. This intuitive engineering works to highlight your voice, no matter what kind of environment you might be working in. This results in consistent audio across each and every word.
