If I'm remembering correctly, he only meets her once, during the incident when the house is burning down. Hazuki proves to be a cheerful addition that helps elevate some of the gloom surrounding this volume. Kaya has a minor meltdown and it's left to Kouji to get her and her mother out of the building so that they don't die in the flames. Her family sends her off as a bride candidate for the young master of one the rising families, who is notorious for, you guessed it, turning down all candidates.Born to a noble family, Miyo is raised by her abusive stepmother and married off to Kiyoka, a soldier so heartless his prior fiancées fled within three days into their engagement.

What I like about this volume of My Happy Marriage is that it builds well on the storyline of Volume 1. Also if anybody is curious before reading cause they too found the anime before this, this novel takes up about half the first season of the anime. At the Tatsuishi residence, Minoru invites Kaya over and shows her the photo of Miyo and Kiyoka, happily engaged.Granted, it doesn't have illustrations, but it was still a much slimmer volume than I was expecting.

Rather, it uses it to enhance the melodrama of the main story, which is the story of a girl who has been mistreated all her life until she is betrothed to an infamous man. There, Miyo finally realizes that she's fallen for Kiyoka, only to find that her fear of change is holding her back from expressing her feelings to him.

While I’ve felt Gifts were well explained in scope, the Grotesqueries were just some vague creations.
