About this deal

i always enjoyed holly jackson’s writing style bc of how simple it was and how easy it is to follow.

Unbeknownst to her, however, a serial killer hiding in plain sight in Little Kilton has set their sights on her and is closing in. Because she delivered her own judgement and made crucial evidence public on her well-received podcast. Not only does she make it look like someone else is the killer, staging false evidence and coming up with an elaborate scheme, but she gets Ravi to help her and also a few of her friends 😕 that is so fucked up.One of the main reasons I escape into books is to take comfort in strong characters who can kick ass again and again, rising from the ashes no matter what happens to them. AND HOW THE HECK DID HE STILL NOT GO TO JAIL, EVEN WHEN SHE LITERALLY HAS AN AUDIO RECORDING OF HIM CONFESSING. As Pip starts to look into who this person might be, she discovers connections that may link her stalker to a local serial killer case purportedly solved six years ago.

We don't get to see MJW all out kick-butt the entire time, but he still delivered on the action and thrills either with fists, kicks or guns. As Bryant's mysterious and dangerous past catches up to him, he is forced into a life and death struggle to clear his name, save the boy and get back all he left behind. She needs to dig as deep as she can and she has to be more obsessive with this case of hers, not to just save herself from disappearing in real life. I am proud of myself tho because i figured out who it was pretty early and i was right * high fives myself * i never guess murderers or mystery cases. But I must agree with a lot of people here - from halfway through, the story becomes utterly unrealistic; I genuinely thought that Pip hit her head or *SPOILER* is still in the trunk of the car, unconscious *END OF SPOILER*, when she comes up with that utterly wild, WILD idea - and then she'll wake up and we can get our storyline back.

overall i understand why so many love this series and i would’ve loved to been able to connect in the same way but had trouble doing so. All casting and performances were mostly convincing, and it was great to see Mandylor and Berenger do their thing. Pip makes the ultimately flaw here of gloating to a seasoned serial killer about knowing who he really is and seconds before she can uncover his identity he grabs her off the street. Last time, Pip had been the kind of someone who outdid the police in cracking murder and missing person cases.
