About this deal

The Rascals are a family of three. Kristen (mom), Blair (dad), and Parker (kiddo). We started Rascal Rides when Parker was born and we didn’t want to give up our passion for biking. As we learned, we shared. Over the years, we’ve tested hundreds of kids bikes, helmets, bike trailers, and more. A massive thanks to all the Cycle Sprog Facebook followers plus the members of the Family Cycling UK and Preowned Frog Bikes For Sale Facebook Groups for taking the time to let me know their recommendations for the best balance bikes. the multiple-choice test, where you will need to answer fifty questions in fifty-seven minutes, and

Once you pass the theory test, you'll be given a pass certificate that you will need to book your riding test. The theory test pass certificate is valid for 2 years from issue. After finding Martijn on YouTube I had to get his book. It’s honestly a gem. His photography is stunning and his trek is inspirational. Read enough books like this and you’ll probably be out exploring the world somewhere. If you fail the theory test, your results paper which highlights the areas that need more work. You will need to resit the whole test again (even if you passed one of the two sections) and tests can be rebooked no earlier than 3 working days from your fail date.Making use of apps with such as “iOverlander and park4night” Doolard was able to find a spot to rest during his trip. But when reflecting on his camping experience, he mentioned that he “preferred to scroll the maps searching for a secluded spot in the forest, on the beach, or along a steep cliff. There, I pitched the tent, watched the sunset, and felt the freedom of sleeping outside.” Sounds ideal to us… Hoozar are a very new entrant into the balance bike market - two parents saw how much their three kids loved their balance bikes and decided to make one better and cheaper! There really is a huge choice of balance bikes in all prices, colours and styles. The important thing is to choose one that fits your child, so they can get both feet flat on the ground whilst scooting along. You might notice that you set them on the bike and they crawl right off and play with the wheels instead. This is totally normal. The secret of a balance bike is that it breaks the skill of cycling into its component parts and focuses on balance taking pedalling completely out of the equation. From around two years old, a child has the potential to gain mastery balancing on two wheels steering intuitively by leaning. Perfecting the art of balance in this way is time well spent, as the cognitive skill of coordination needs another year or so to develop. You can’t ‘hothouse’ this skill but its all about being able to divide one’s attention, small scale multi-tasking! Come that day, your child has the potential to balance and pedal at the same time. Then with the right guidance and product, your child should make a smooth transition to riding a bicycle independently. Sometimes it happens in an afternoon with much excitement all round. But is a scooter easier?

We have had the Frog Tadpole for a year and my daughter loves it. She got it at 3 and still uses it at just 4. she is a tall 4 year old at 110cm." - Rachel

You will receive a pre-notification at least 5 days before the date of direct debit collection. Please note that you are obliged to ensure sufficient funds in the account on the announced date. First, you can get your child comfortable with the pedals. You can help them develop their coordination and balance by teaching them to pedal on their own. If you can’t ride a bike, you can help them learn by practicing on a balance bike. A balance bike is lightweight and portable. It can even fit into a stroller. It’s a book to treasure. But at slightly more than A4 size and weighing 3kg, the only problem is where to keep it. Permanently on the coffee table, I suspect!

Its design and seat help toddlers gain leg strength, confidence, social confidence and develop balance. Children with stabilisers on their bike often get left behind by their friends on balance bikes and can find it a frustrating experience. We’ve talked about gross motor skills with upper body, core and lower limb strength and coordination. Fine motor skills are employed especially when using the smaller muscles of the hand. Introducing a child to these early on can give them a head start in learning how to gently squeeze or ‘feather’ the brake to slow down gradually. We've recently reviewed the brand new Hornit AIRO balance bike, and it was so lightweight I actually thought they'd forgotten to put it in the box! Here’s a post I wrote on this topic: https://rascalrides.com/5-ways-to-encourage-a-toddler-to-use-their-balance-bike/ Strider Bike for the win! Ours has done over 600 miles with three children and still going strong. Lightweight, huge range of seat height and great quality. For him specifically, I’d try to encourage the balance bike a bit longer before resorting to training wheels. (Although if you do, it’s not the end of the world either). If he’s afraid of falling, can you try to encourage him to ride on the grass perhaps?

My eldest (3) loves his Strider Balance Bike - it is the 'sport' version and is very light, although not the lightest on the market. It was a good price given it came with two seat posts to extend its lifespan. He's had no problem with the unrestricted handlebars and I doubt would use the brake offered on competitor brands (certainly not when he first had it aged 2).The majority of 12" wheel bikes come supplied with stabilisers because very few 2 year olds are ready to start pedalling unaided. The lightweight frame and modern, confidence-inspiring geometry should make for a fun ride and allow for small riders to progress and experiment with their cycling." Looking ahead, starting out on a balance bike opens the door to cycling and the potential to explore, take part in junior cycling events, learning self-sufficiency and enjoying family days out. Riding a bicycle can help develop confidence and self-efficacy and I have heard directly from parents that early mastery of balance biking has boosted their children’s confidence learning other new skills. Price and value Being two years old is such an exciting age! As the adult in the life of a 2 year old, you're probably looking at ways to keep them occupied - and what better than their very first bike?
